As far as I’m concerned, life sucks and people are assholes—and anyone who says otherwise is either deluded or lying.
Life might seem worthwhile and happy when we think about the past, or future, or something far off—but when real life and its details are right in our face, we see it as it is: a bunch of ridiculous crap. It’s kind of like the difference between the photos in a photo album and the lives of the people they depict. In the pictures, they’re happy, pleasant, satisfied, and loving
—but in real life, they were pissed, cranky, disappointed, and even more pissed.
Rather than being a typical lunatic who values and chases life’s BS and expects everything from the world, we should take it for what it is and tell it to go screw itself.
And don’t even get me started on what people are really like. What? You want to know? OK—but you asked for it.
I’m going to be 100% honest here—and that’ll make me just about the only person who isn’t totally full of it.
If you like honesty and sincerity, I’ve got some bad news for you: You were born in the wrong universe! Your soul missed a turn at some cosmic Albuquerque, and you ended up in a world where lies rule.
People play a part just about all of the time—and they’ve built a world of near complete bullshit. Almost everything you see is not much more than a show. Most politeness is a mere mask aimed at manipulation; most friendships are mainly an act made to look the real thing. And deep down inside, behind their masks, most people are not much more than egotistical, narrow-minded, shallow, petty, miserable, bitter, selfish, cruel bastards, just waiting for an opportunity to let their scummy inner selves loose.
And they’re so self-obsessed and vain that they’re unbelievable easy to offend and to manipulate, and not the least bit suitable for a real friendship.
And the world doesn’t really care much about you. It usually just throws some superficial tags on you—and should you ever find yourself in a crappy spot, it’ll continue spinning as if you don’t even exist.
But you’re so self-centered that you insist everything has to revolve around you—and when you realize that that’ll never happen, you settle for blabbing all your shit to people who really don’t care. (God you make me sick!)
In a world like ours, our best bet is to acknowledge that people are what they are, and not what we want them to be or what we think they are. And we should realize that 5/6ths of people are pieces of shit—and if you consider a piece of shit a saint, you’ll end up paying for it.
But does that mean we should focus on how disgusting people are, and simply hate their guts?
Yes! Um… I mean, no! Instead of hating them, we should develop sympathy for our fellow humans, realize that their lives aren’t free of suffering, and give them the tolerance, regard, and love that we owe them.
OK—maybe not love. And maybe not regard, either. And I’m not so sure they deserve tolerance.
You know what? Screw them!
