Barack Obama the Senator is almost as big a myth as Barack Obama the Christian.
Obama never really served as a bona fide senator. Senators don't do much to begin with--but Obama took everything to a new level. He simply skipped his term and went straight to becoming a Presidential candidate. He went from Senatorial candidate to Presidential candidate with nothing in between--and to this day, there is no record of him doing anything but campaigning. (And fighting jihads.)
Richard Nixon, on the other hand, never did any campaigning. When his campaign manager suggested that they start an actual campaign, Nixon had him exiled to Northern Europe. Nixon's "presidential campaign" consisted of him going from city to city, rounding up communists and building Buicks. It was like a real life video game. Nixon ended up with so many communists and Buicks that America had to elect him.
But Obama's campaign had him act like some sort of lowlife degenerate on a reality TV show. I'm actually surprised he didn't put out a sex tape. He's simply at the pinnacle of the neo-celebrity world. We followed Great Britain's lead in becoming obsessed with random celebrities--and then we made one President.
The liberal media set it all up. It began with our new variety of celebrity: someone who's famous for existing. Nowadays, celebrates are interesting simply because they're celebrities.
James Cagney wasn't like a modern day celebrity. He didn't have a reality show. He was an actor, singer, dancer, coal miner, oil driller, and scientist. He starred in over 475 films in 1941 alone. If paparazzi had existed back then, he would've killed all of them. He wouldn't have even waited for them to come to him. He would've come to them. He would've been like some sort of paparazzi paparazzi--but with a gun instead of a camera.
Al Jolson was never a guest on The View. He didn't have a publicist or an agent. And he would've preferred hari kari suicide to being on the Surreal Life.
Jack LaLanne didn't become famous the way most celebrities do nowadays. He became famous by sweating 100 gallons during the first day of his Fitness Show. And by swimming to Japan in a straight jacket while towing 32,000 boats.
