Agnosticism

Agnosticism does not take either side of religious beliefs or atheism. In general, agnostic thought states that it is impossible for humans to know (through experience) whether or not there is a God / Gods / divine beings, or that it has yet to be determined but may or may not be possible to determine whether or not there is a God / Gods / divine beings.

The term agnosticism originated in the late 1800s by T.H. Huxley, although there have clearly been people with agnostic beliefs throughout known history.
